With a lap of 192.082 mph, Kyle Larson was fastest in an eventful opening practice session at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch both were dealt setbacks for Sunday’s race after hitting the wall in Turn 4. Earnhardt said his car did not react well to the PJ1 that had been applied to the track and his car “took off into the fence.”

The No. 18 of Busch appeared to react in the same way. Busch drifted up the track in nearly the same place as Earnhardt…
