Striving to provide the highest amount of detail and realism, the staff at Open-Wheels is proud to announce that Joel Real Timing (JRT) will serve as the Official Timing and Scoring Program of the 2019 Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race – and will offer a pair of pro licenses during the event.

“Joel Real Timing is one of the most unique, unparalleled applications that is available to competitors on iRacing, and it can truly enhance a driver’s sim racing experience,” said Tanner Watkins, owner and editor of Open-Wheels, and the president of the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race presented by Mitchell Transmissions.

“Not only do I use Joel Real Timing when I race, but JRT will also serve as our official timing and scoring partner to provide real-time on-track data during practice and race sessions during the inaugural Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race.”

Furthermore, Joel Real Timing is giving away two professional-level licenses to two lucky entrants in the 2019 Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race. The terms for winning the licenses will be released at a later date.

Joel Real Timing, which was developed by Joel Guez, is an application that accomplishes a variety of tasks in sim racing. JRT provides services for real-time standings (like the Open-Wheels 500 timing and scoring page), a heads-up dashboard for sim racers competing on-track, a virtual button box, a calculator and track map, and even a photo mode!

Guez, the mastermind of JRT, has seen his program grow over the years – with significant support from the sim racing community to make it the preferred timing and scoring application on iRacing. His decision to support the inaugural Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race further validates his intentions to serve the iRacing community as a whole.

“I am very happy and proud to support the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race by providing live timing,” said Guez. “It promises to be an exciting event. I drove this car in the past and I loved it!”

Guez continues, by telling the story of JRT in his words: “JRT was a simple timing table at the start. Now, it offers some help to make the driving experience better – whether you are a driver or a spectator. I can’t list all the features here, but the most popular feature is probably the calculator that tries to be the most accurate possible taking into account a lot of parameters.

“When I’m racing, I can’t drive without the spotter with beep sounds, and I like to do some photos with motion blur for my team Redface Racing using the JRT photo mode. And when you are a spectator, the timing eases the navigation. You can click directly on the name of a driver with your tablet or on a secondary screen to have the focus on him. With just a right click, you get the lap time history.”
