27 years ago today, racing legend Mario Andretti ended his illustrious driving career at the Toyota Grand Prix of Monterey. His history at the track goes back to winning the 1975 Monterey Grand Prix featuring the F5000 series in a Lola T332. One year before retiring from open-wheel racing, he and son Michael, the event winner, both stood on the podium at the 1993 CART race. He earned three poles in 11 IndyCar races in Monterey. Turn 2 of the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course was designated the Andretti Hairpin. #MarioAndretti #MazdaRaceway #LagunaSeca
